Tree Stands

Notice from the Director: “Due to the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic from 2020 to this hunting season, some tree stand locations may not have been renewed properly and may no longer be available to previous location owners.  Patience and understanding would be appreciated as we do our best to re-organize.”

Here are the regulations for having a tree stand in the Base Borden training area for hunting.

    1. Maximum of 3 tree stands* per membership**.
    2. Each member can register one tree stand per area. Two tree stands per area will be authorized for member with a family membership.li>
    3. For registration purpose area A, B1 & B2 are considered one area. Area F is separated in two, F1 & F2 (separation is the west limit of DZ Gorvard).
    4. Sharing tree stands is authorized, however it must be registered and approved through the tree stand director.
    5. Only non-permanent tree stands are permitted in CFB Borden training area.
    6. Every effort will be made to avoid damage to environment/tree while installing and utilizing tree stand.
    7. Member tree stand area shall remain clean at all times.
    8. No tree stand will be authorized in impact areas or identified restricted areas (i.e. E2 Area, outdoor bow range, etc.)
    9. Non-permanent tree stands shall be at a minimum of 200 meters from each other, 100 meters from training area perimeter fence/boundary and 10m from any main supply road.
    10. Member with a family membership with two tree stand in one area or members hunting in groups may ask to reduce the distance between the tree stand to 100 meters. This exemption will be granted on a case by case basis and must be registered and approved through the tree stand director.
    11. Non-Permanent Tree Stands and feeders may be installed 30 days prior the opening of deer bow hunting season and must be removed no later than 30 days after deer bow season closes. There will be an opportunity to scout tree stand locations for roughly a month before the season opens.  Refer to the homepage for specific dates that are updated regularly. 
    12. All equipment including tree stand and feeder must be identified with a weatherproof tag with the following information:
      • Full name
      • Grid reference (10 digits)
      • Membership number
      • Year of registration
    13. All equipment installed and removed from the training area during bow hunting season must be registered at range control.
    14. Non-Permanent Tree Stands left in the training area during bow hunting season is at the members risk. BBRGC will not be held responsible for any damages or loss.
    15. Tree stands location (grid) cannot be traded or given away to another member.
    16. Returning members have priority to renew their tree stand locations. Application for tree stand renewal is from May 1st to June 30th. Membership must be renewed at the time of the application and only previous tree stands will be registered.
    17. Application for new tree stands is from July 1st to August 31th. Membership must be paid at the time of the application and tree stands are authorized on a first come first serve basis.
    18. Members must receive the hunting safety brief in order to receive final authorization and gain access to their tree stand during the hunting season.
    19. All/any tree stand problems or conflicts will be reported to the tree stand director.
    20. All/any contravention to the BBRGC rules and regulations will be dealt with by the President of the club and may see the forfeiture of all privileges within the club.
