Environmental Stewardship

Please click HERE to view a presentation document on Species at Risk and Terrestrial Invasive Species which may be found on Base Borden.

The Base Borden Rod and Gun Club is truly a diamond in the rough located over most of the base.  It provides a multitude of activities for young and old alike.  Formed in 1946, the club has provided a countless amount of hours of fun and enjoyment for all who participate.  This is the most diverse club on the base when it comes to opportunity and activities.

There are excellent hunting and fishing opportunities for those who participate as members.  Combined with our motto of conservation, we are true stewards to the base environment and its flora and fauna.  We provide opportunity to hone your shooting skills, whether it’s with bow and arrow or almost any type of firearm.  It would probably be prudent to mention that the cost is a fraction of the average local civilian shooting club and you also have the benefit of all of the other amenities provided by the club.  There are ATV and snowmobile trails for enthusiasts,  although, some prefer just to walk the trails.

However one of the best kept secrets of the club is our Junior Activities.  The clubs Executive Committee includes a Junior Activities Director who is always looking for fun things for the children to do.  Some examples include a fishing derby that is always a great time, map and compass reading, bird house building, pumpkin carving, tree planting, building deer-feeders, coyote and turkey calling as well as the popular antler hunt, not to mention archery shooting with equipment supplied.  These events take place throughout the year.  There are other events too, but maybe you will find them when you hit the website.  We can’t resist mentioning the Wild Games Dinner and Banquet, which is ALWAYS A GREAT TIME!  The Junior Activities Director is always looking for ideas on how to let the kids just plain enjoy themselves while teaching them a respect for the great outdoors.

See on this site the events that are ongoing for you to spend some extra quality time with your children.

The directors and members of the executive volunteer their time and they’re always looking for ideas and events to make the club a little better.

Come on out and join in the fun while we all conserve the planet’s precious resources.
